The FF Plus, in cooperation with the organisation Gift of the Givers, supplied the Emfuleni Local Municipality (Evaton, Sebokeng, Vaal Oewer, Vanderbijlpark, Vereeniging) with an additional water tank to help alleviate the shortage of water.
The main supply pipeline from Rand Water to Emfuleni burst on Monday evening and, consequently, the entire Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark have no water.
The water shortage is affecting a vast area, even as far as Parys in the Free State.
Emfuleni has just 15 water trucks to service its 45 wards. Water is supplied to clinics, hospitals and schools first and then to residential neighbourhoods.
It is not sufficient, though, and the FF Plus in Emfuleni cooperated with Gift of the Givers to procure an additional water tank.
This water tank is stationed in front of the FF Plus offices in 84 Faraday Avenue, Vanderbijlpark. Residents are welcome to come and fetch water at any time.
According to the Municipality, repairs to the main supply pipeline should be completed by Friday, but water is expected to only reach residential areas by Saturday.
