EFF the biggest threat to nation building, non-racialism and social cohesion in South Africa

(Parliamentary debate sponsored by the EFF leader: Enclaves such as Orania and Kleinfontein in a post-Apartheid South Africa – a threat to nation building, non-racialism and social cohesion)

The EFF and its leader, Julius Malema, pose the biggest threat to the people of South Africa.

This was the message delivered by Dr Corné Mulder, leader of the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus), in today’s parliamentary debate sponsored by Mr Malema, with the theme: Enclaves such as Orania and Kleinfontein in a post-Apartheid South Africa – a threat to nation building, non-racialism and social cohesion”.

Here is Dr Mulder’s full speech (also available in English).

The topic of today’s debate was determined by the leader of the EFF, Mr Malema, who claims that communities such as Orania and Kleinfontein threaten nation building, non-racialism and social cohesion.

These communities did not spring up overnight, though. They were born out of lengthy negotiations between responsible leaders, which culminated in the signing of the Accord on Afrikaner Self-Determination on 23 April 1994.

This Accord is as relevant today as it was then. It is why we have section 31 in our Constitution, which deals with cultural, religious and linguistic communities. The members of these communities may not be denied the right to celebrate their culture, practice their religion, and speak their language alongside like-minded individuals.

Section 235 of the Constitution addresses self-determination and clearly recognises the right of any community sharing a common cultural and language heritage, within a territorial entity in the Republic or in any other way.

This is exactly what Orania and Kleinfontein are: They are self-sustaining, productive, sustainable communities that place no financial burden on the state. Imagine if other communities could do the same.

Who is actually threatening nation building?

The political party that sows division, intimidates people, stirs up discord and strives for a revolution in South Africa – the EFF is that threat.

Who is actually threatening non-racialism?

The political party that wants to “cut the throat of whiteness,” expropriate property from white people, and says it might one day call for the slaughter of white people in South Africa, but not yet – again, the EFF.

Who is actually threatening social cohesion?

The political party whose leader says: “You must never be afraid to kill; a revolution requires killing at some point because killing is part of the revolutionary act.” And who zealously sings “Kill the Boer – Kill the Farmer”. Clearly, the EFF is the biggest threat to social cohesion as well.

Orania and Kleinfontein pose no threat – the actual threat is plain for all to see.

The residents of Orania and Kleinfontein are Afrikaners, just like the more than two and a half million other Afrikaners living elsewhere in South Africa. We named ourselves after our continent, Africa. Afrikaners in Africa.

Our lovely language is Afrikaans – also named after our continent, Africa. It is the language we are proud to teach our children.

Afrikaners are people who build up, not tear down. We want to keep moving forward in a positive direction together and at peace with all the people of South Africa.

We are bound to Africa and will build a future for ourselves and our children here. Mr Malema and the EFF should better believe that

Orania and Kleinfontein, and all other Afrikaners, are here in South Africa now and we are here to stay. We do not need anyone’s permission.
