Afrikaners more than willing to cooperate, but were not born for subservience

(Parliamentary debate on the influence of global white supremacist movements on white nationalism in South Africa)

The ANC, MK, EFF and DA are all making the same error of judgement – as seen in today’s parliamentary debate on so-called “white supremacy” – they equate an appreciation for Western heritage with white supremacy. This is wrong.

The current trend in America and Europe to rediscover the roots of Western civilisation is, thus, branded white supremacy, while nationalism is labelled racialism and division.

In contrast, the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) highlighted recent election results in Western countries as a positive development that inevitably had to follow the self-loathing in which the West has been wallowing in recent decades.

The most burning question in South African politics is how a multinational state such as South Africa ought to manage its cultural diversity:

For the ANC, MK, EFF and DA the answer lies in a shared state identity to which every minority’s culture has to be subservient.

According to this view, cultural identity has no place in public life as it could lead to nationalism, hatred and division if it gained a foothold – it belongs and is only tolerated in private spaces.

The only point of contention for these parties is the way in which the state should determine the identity of its people.

In stark contrast, the Freedom Front Plus advocates for a federal state where cultural identities complement rather than oppose one another, and where everyone has the opportunity to flourish.

Recognition is not the problem, but the solution. If it is disregarded, minorities are faced with a choice: gradual annihilation or friction with the state. In such cases, governments usually become increasingly oppressive and ultimately fracture after a crisis.

Afrikaners do not wish to dominate others, but we were not born for subservience either.

Government’s choice is simple: Recognise it and defuse the forces of friction and oppression, or stay the current course and experience what it feels like to be on the wrong side of a freedom struggle.
