No, certainly not.
Not a single South African can afford to be indifferent to the 2024 general elections.
The time of standing on the sidelines and criticising, without participating in elections, is over.
Whether we want to admit it or not, it doesn’t matter where you live in South Africa, you simply cannot escape the impact politics has on your life.
So, you can choose to be part of the solution, by casting your vote, or part of the problem, by standing on the sidelines screaming: “Stem reg, bly weg.”
For the first time since the first democratic elections in 1994, we have a golden opportunity to get rid of the corrupt ANC government in the upcoming elections. We must not miss this opportunity.
South Africa will not survive another five years under ANC rule.
As citizens, we are shareholders of the country, admittedly not in the traditional sense of the word, i.e., shareholding in a company, however, we do have certain rights and responsibilities as citizens, just as a company’s shareholders do.
One such a right is to have a say in management through voting and decision-making processes, just as shareholders do in a company.
We all have a vested interest in the success, stability and prosperity of South Africa. We have a stake in the political, economic and social wellbeing of the country.
As shareholders, we ought to benefit from the services rendered by government using our own hard-earned money. These include quality education, good healthcare, a competent police force, access to clean water and reliable power supply, to name but a few.
We have the right to expect transparency and accountability of the ANC government. We have the right to hold the ANC government accountable for its actions and decisions, just as shareholders hold the corporate management of a company accountable for its performance, or lack thereof.
Over the past 30 years, the ANC has demonstrated time and again that it is not willing to be accountable to the people, the shareholders, of South Africa, and that it does not possess the political will to fulfil its mandate towards its shareholders.
It does not have its shareholders’ best interests at heart, and governs the country solely to benefit itself and its select cadres. We shareholders must be satisfied with the crumbs falling from the gluttonous ANC’s table, which it piled high using our tax money.
It is, therefore, crucially important for every South African older than 18 years to ensure that they are registered as voters with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) so they can vote in the 2024 general elections.
As shareholders of South Africa, we should exercise our rights and responsibilities by voting for a coalition government, which will have everyone’s best interests at heart and of which the FF Plus is part.
Parents also have a responsibility to encourage their children to exercise their right to vote and, in so doing, take control of their future.
They are the shareholders who will bear the brunt and suffer the most if we do not use this opportunity to stop the ANC.
It will be no easy task to get South Africa out of the mess in which the ANC has landed it. There may be times when we will wonder whether it is all worth it.
But giving up is simply not an option.
Together, we can restore and rebuild South Africa.
