Freedom Front Plus drives solution for Burgersfort’s sewage crisis – private sector ready to help

The private sector is ready to help resolve Burgersfort’s sewage problems in the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (Steelpoort, Burgersfort, Ohrigstad), but first needs to obtain permission from the Sekhukhune District Municipality.

The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) wrote to the Municipal Manager of the District Municipality, Mr Meshach Mahlagaume Isaac Kgwale, requesting that the private sector and owners of nearby properties, Tubatse Mews and Burgersfort Lodge, be allowed to assist in resolving the area’s ongoing sewage issues.

The party also received confirmation that Lepelle Northern Water is prepared to provide assistance once the necessary authorisation has been obtained.

The area’s sewage system has not been connected to the main sewer line for more than four years, resulting in raw sewage spilling into the environment.

This poses an unacceptable health risk to residents and visitors, and undermines the development and tourism potential of Burgersfort.

What makes this matter particularly noteworthy is that various stakeholders in the private sector are willing to get involved and help with implementing solutions.

The Freedom Front Plus not only identified the problem, but is also offering viable solutions.

All that is needed now is the political will and administrative approval to proceed with the repair work.

The Freedom Front Plus’s involvement is driven by a principled commitment to healthy, functional communities where basic services are not a luxury, but a right.

The party will closely monitor the process and apply pressure to ensure a swift and effective resolution.
