It has come to the attention of the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) that the Free State Department of Labour has closed Wards 9 and 10 at Universitas Hospital following complaints about unhygienic and unsafe conditions.
The Freedom Front Plus immediately contacted the Free State MEC for Health, Viceroy Mahlatsi, requesting that urgent steps be taken to ensure the wards are operational again as soon as possible.
In its letter, the party reminded Mahlatsi that it is unacceptable for his department to disregard legislation while government expects all sectors to comply with it.
It is no secret that government hospitals in the Free State are in a deplorable condition and still the ANC government keeps forging ahead with the National Health Insurance (NHI), which will only make matters worse.
The Department of Labour’s decision confirms the Freedom Front Plus’s conviction, i.e., basic healthcare management is the best solution to the Free State’s healthcare challenges.
The NHI is clearly not the answer to the failed healthcare system, which collapsed under ANC rule.
