The Tshwane Metro is unable to give an indication of when power will be restored to large parts of Centurion after the fire at the Rooihuiskraal substation on 4 April.
The affected areas in Centurion include Heuweloord, Monavoni, Amberfield, Eldoraigne, Celtisdal and parts of Wierdapark.
Technicians of the Metro’s Energy Department are working around the clock to complete the repairs. There is, however, no set date by which the repairs will be completed. It is expected that the power will be off for at least the next three days.
Over the course of the last few days, the Freedom Front Plus’s branch chair in Ward 48, Martie Pretorius, provided food to more than 80 municipal workers busy repairing the substation.
She also made arrangements for residents to store their perishable foodstuffs at various different places, including the Raslouw Dutch Reformed Church.
The Freedom Front Plus will keep residents up to date with how repair work is progressing.
