The Mayor of the Mogale City Local Municipality (Krugersdorp, Magaliesburg, Muldersdrift), Lucky Sele, had promised in his reply to an urgent letter from the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) to rectify 1 450 erroneous municipal bills by the end of February.
In case it was not possible, he granted the Freedom Front Plus’s request that residents’ services will not be suspended until the billing errors have been resolved.
Over the past few months, the Freedom Front Plus has been inundated with complaints from residents who received incorrect water and power bills. Some residents received a power bill of R63 000 and a water bill of R22 000.
The Municipality appointed the service provider Munsoft to automate the activation of new meters and deactivation of old meters.
It will drastically reduce human error and the turn-around time for updating municipal accounts.
The Freedom Front Plus will keep an eye on the matter while putting pressure on the Municipality to rectify the accounts.
