Michelle Wasserman has lived in Ward 10 in Knysna since 1999 and understands the challenges facing its residents and businesses. She is a qualified attorney, former practising advocate and accredited mediator, holding BA (Law), LLB and LLM degrees. She has served as Deputy Executive Mayor, Speaker and Ward Councillor on the Knysna Municipal Council. She also worked as a legal officer at the South African Human Rights Commission, specialising in municipal accountability for water and sanitation services.
“I want to make Ward 10, including the Knysna CBD, a cleaner and safer place where residents feel secure and businesses can prosper. My focus is on proper repair and maintenance of roads, water and sewer infrastructure and waste services, as well as increased law-enforcement capacity and consistent enforcement of municipal by-laws. I also want to work towards a well-run and suitably located homeless shelter that provides support to vulnerable people. My goal is a clean, safe and well-run Ward 10.”
