Karlien Venter has lived in the Zeerust and Groot Marico area for fifty years and has served as a councillor in Ramotshere Moiloa for almost ten years. She builded a reputation for community service. Karlien serves on the financial portfolio committee, assists residents with account problems and uses her access to financial information to hold officials accountable. She manages community, safety, traffic and service-delivery groups. Her work against sewage pollution and municipal decline shows her determination. Karlien’s greatest strengths are local knowledge, accessibility, courage and follow-up.
“Ramotshere Moiloa’s finances and service delivery cannot be restored separately. Residents who pay deserve accurate accounts, clean water, working sewage systems and feedback on where their money goes. The sewage works in Zeerust and Groot Marico must be audited, repaired and monitored so that no pollution threatens the Marico River, agriculture, tourism or people’s health. My experience on the finance committee and in communities helps me ask questions, expose problems and persistently enforce implementation.”
