Gideon Jacobus Wentink is a dedicated community member who has made himself available as an VF Plus candidate for the local election. His support for the party and its values extends over many years, including public awareness initiatives and conversations with friends and colleagues. In 2023, he began serving as vice-chairperson of AfriForum’s Potchefstroom branch, where he contributes actively to civil society. Gideon now wants to take his involvement further by representing residents’ interests in local government. He believes in practical service, community cooperation and responsible leadership in Potchefstroom.
I have learned that a community grows stronger when ordinary residents are willing to stand up and accept responsibility together. My involvement with AfriForum showed how much can be achieved when people combine their time, knowledge and energy. In JB Marks, I want to help build a partnership between residents, neighbourhood structures, community organisations and the municipality. Problems must be reported quickly, clearly prioritised and visibly followed up. I want to be an accessible representative who listens, gives feedback, consistently defends community interests and decisively delivers visible results for residents.
