Barend Johannes Stoffberg matriculated in 1985 and then pursued a forty-year career in the South African Police Service. He served as an instructor at Maleoskop and was commander of the Management Information Centre at Lichtenburg SAPS. There he coordinated election planning with the IEC and trained SAPS members for elections. Following his retirement in March 2026, he works at Outdoor Guns, NWK, Lichtenburg. Barend is well known among residents and farmers, worked with the agricultural community as a liaison officer and participated in several improvement and clean-up projects in Ditsobotla
Forty years in the police service taught me that safety rests on reliable information, good coordination and mutual trust. Ditsobotla must unite the SAPS, CPF structures, farmers’ associations, neighbourhood watches and municipal technical teams around an operational plan. Cable theft, vandalism, illegal connections and damage to infrastructure must be reported and investigated. Rural residents and farmers need safe, passable routes and timely warnings. I want to use my experience to help clear communication, responsible action and measurable safety results throughout Lichtenburg and surrounding areas.
