Annemarie Coetzer has lived in Brits for decades and worked within Madibeng’s administration for 35 years. She began her career in Technical Services, where she received and followed up complaints about roads, water, sewage and stormwater. She worked in the executive mayor’s office and as IDP coordinator, with responsibilities for the integrated development plan, SDBIP, performance and risk reports, participation and evidence portfolios for the Auditor-General. Annemarie holds a National Diploma in Municipal Administration. She brings rare institutional knowledge, calm judgement, strong relationships and a passion for results-oriented service delivery
“Madibeng’s turnaround plan must be built into the IDP, budget, SDBIP and every manager’s performance agreement. Otherwise, it remains a separate document without ownership. Every community’s priorities must be linked to a project, budget, responsible department and measurable quarterly target. The council must use evidence portfolios and risk reports to test whether work was done. My years as IDP coordinator taught me that good planning brings together people’s needs, statutory time frames and available resources. I want to ensure that participation is not a formality, but flows into service delivery.”
