The best way to hold the ruling party accountable is to create the realistic possibility that the ANC may be defeated at the polls.
Protest actions will make no difference to the hopeless service delivery of the ANC.
It is regrettable that voters have not yet realised this, because on election day, votes are once again cast in favour of the very same party against which the people are now protesting.
For the residents of Standerton and the Lekwa Municipality (Morgenzon, Standerton), 2020 was the most difficult year as regards service delivery. The Covid-19 pandemic forced many businesses to come to a grinding halt and many people were left unemployed. The Standerton economy simply cannot afford any more protest actions.
It is clear that these protest actions aim to divert the attention away from the provincial ANC government, but it will all come to nothing because it is the very same government that is keeping the incompetent local government in power by deliberately withholding the forensic audit findings of 2018 through to 2020.
Implementing the forensic audit findings and recommendations could already have brought about a significant improvement in Standerton and the Lekwa Municipality's service delivery, specifically because officials of the Lekwa Municipality are implicated in the mismanagement of the Municipality.
The FF Plus is still waiting for answers after questions about the matter was posed to the provincial government.
The residents of the Lekwa Municipality need change. By standing on their democratic right to vote, residents can ensure that the right party comes into power so that service delivery and their circumstances in general can improve.
If the majority of Lekwa Municipality residents want change, they must first of all change their political affiliation and vote for the FF Plus with the 2021 municipal elections.
