Schools should not allow Ogod to intimidate them

Schools should not allow the organization Ogod to intimidate them on their religious practices and they are under no obligation to give account to Ogod on matters concerning their internal affairs,” says adv Anton Alberts, the FF Plus’s parliamentary spokesperson on basic education.

Adv. Alberts says the Constitutional Court's ruling confirming religious equality in schools imposes an obligation on statutory bodies to oversee religious practices in schools, which means that Ogod is out of order to send threatening letters regarding this matter to Christian or any other schools.

"Schools must note that they may still practice religion as long as they do it fairly and do not force pupils to participate.

"Ogod's actions indicate that he is conducting a vendetta against religion and especially against the Christian religion as all its recent threatening letters have been sent to Christian schools.

"The FF Plus advises schools not to be intimidated by this and that any action on Ogod's side should be dealt with by their department of education.

"The FF Plus is in favour of Christian principles in schools situated in predominantly Christian communities," said Adv. Alberts.
