The Guptas may no longer be allowed to run Eskom like it is their spaza shop and a moratorium must be placed on all electricity price increases until a thorough criminal investigation into the nest of corruption and fraud at Eskom has been conducted, says Adv Anton Alberts, chairperson of the FF Plus.
The latest is Business Day’s report earlier today that Eskom admitted to being dishonest when it defended payments amounting to R1,6 billion to the Gupta-linked financial advisory firm, Trillian, and global consultancy, McKinsey, as being justified expenses.
It was alleged that the global management consultancy, Oliver Wyman, conducted an independent review of the payments and apparently found that ‘all the payments’ were legitimate and for work well done. However, this does not seem to be the case now.
According to Adv Alberts, people need to be aware that through electricity price increases, they are directly depositing money into the pockets of the Guptas and other corrupt Eskom officials.
“This rotten mess must be exposed for what it is and the general public must not pay one more cent in increases before Eskom has properly cleaned house,” says Adv Alberts.
