The allegations of tender fraud in Limpopo’s Department of Health must be thoroughly investigated.
The Conty Lebepe Foundation uncovered the alleged irregularities, and the FF Plus will do everything in its power to ensure that all the allegations of fraud and corruption are investigated.
Tenders amounting to millions of rand were allegedly allocated to provide coal to 14 hospitals in the province, some of which do not even have steam boilers.
According to the Department’s spokesperson, Neil Shikwambana, the office of Limpopo’s MEC for Health, Ms Phophi Ramathuba, is aware of the allegations.
She reportedly said that no contract will be signed or paid out before the relevant investigations have been concluded.
It seems that there is a problem with the department’s tender allocation process, which must be addressed as soon as possible to combat the alleged corruption.
It is also imperative that these investigations and subsequent prosecutions are carried out swiftly.
