The FF Plus wants to express its sincere condolences to the friends and family of the journalist, Suna Venter, who passed away yesterday. She was truly brave and fearless both in her vocation as journalist and in her everyday life.
The FF Plus strongly condemns the events that occurred last year at the SABC, where she worked, and is of the opinion that it directly contributed to her stress-related disease and untimely death. As part of the SABC 8, she opposed editorial interference at the corporation and was initially suspended as a result.
What she had gone through to state her case is shocking and comes down to nothing less than extreme harassment. The blame for all of this can be placed squarely on the shoulders of Hlaudi Motsoeneng’s SABC.
A thorough police investigation needs to be done in order to determine what exactly caused the various acts against her, including the instances of her being shot at.
