Highest court points out injustices of ANC transformation

The Constitutional Court has with its judgment in the correctional services case confirmed the FF Plus’ view that affirmative action, in the manner that it is being enforced with its transformation agenda, is immoral and damaging, Adv. Anton Alberts, the FF Plus’ parliamentary spokesperson on Justice, says.

Adv. Alberts says the judgment is hopefully the start of the end of affirmative action with the prospect of improved service delivery across the whole of South Africa if people are once again appointed on merit and not strictly according to race.

“The FF Plus wishes to congratulate Solidarity and the relevant officials. With this judgment the ANC government is also clearly getting the message that it cannot indefinitely continue to enforce its damaging and unconstitutional policy on minorities in the country.

“The FF Plus’ view has consistently been that transformation is nothing other than racism. The damage to the country’s economy and to service delivery in general caused by it is enormous.

“The truth is that the public service is currently behind in its efforts in repairing the imbalances against white and brown workers. The reality is that there is an under-representation of white and brown people on all levels of the public service. The FF Plus will continue to pressurise the government to put it right.

“Even in the private sector is there are too few white and brown workers in junior positions. Why is this not also addressed? The ANC is clearly busy focusing on the black imbalances in the labour market, which is pure racism,” Adv. Alberts says.
