Free State student picking up EFF rubbish highlights the difference between those building up and those breaking down

The student from the University of the Free State who in silent protest picked up the rubbish strewn around by fellow-students dressed in EFF clothing gave a powerful demonstration of the difference between those building up and those breaking down South Africa.

The video showing the student, Eckard Binding, picking up the rubbish that two EFF members repeatedly threw out of the rubbish bin during a student protest action has made waves worldwide and by this morning, the video already had more than 1,5 million views on Facebook.

The FF Plus considers Binding's behaviour commendable. It speaks of character, integrity and the need to create order as opposed to vandalising.

There are some parties in Parliament and some elements in our society who strive for anarchy and violence and who have no desire to build up, to restore, to establish true equality or to create a better South Africa for all the people who call this beautiful country home.

Anarchy has many faces. It manifests firstly in the way that the EFF supporters in the video try to send a strong message by littering and by deliberately humiliating a decent young man.

The only message that they are sending, however, is that they are unable to govern and do not understand what true leadership is. The behaviour exhibited today by the EFF Members of Parliament is a reflection of the students' poor conduct.

A second form of anarchy is the ruling party's blatant corruption and the way that the state coffers are openly looted. The failure of local government, management and infrastructure has brought our country to its knees. It makes the ANC just as bad as the EFF.

South Africa needs more people like Eckard Binding who want to build up and who can take a stand against anarchists like the EFF and who will ultimately be able to create a better South Africa for all through character, hard work and maintaining law and order.

A single person silently sent a very loud message to South Africa and the rest of the world: anarchy will not be allowed to triumph over orderliness.
