The new amendment bill to the Schools Act can destroy basic education and schools in South Africa and the FF Plus will oppose it in every possible way in parliament so as to ensure that the amendments will at the very least be unfeasible, says adv Anton Alberts, chairperson of the FF Plus.
Earlier this month, the amendment bill was published in the Government Gazette and it grants the government great power over schools.
According to adv Alberts, the FF Plus finds it shocking, but not surprising, that the ANC government has once again come up with a simplistic policy, which implies that everything in society must be dictated, in this case schools and the youth’s future.
“This policy is in line with the ANC’s general policy of a developmental state where all aspects of society are governed, as is currently the case in China.
“China, however, has very high work ethics and that is why its economy is seeing dividends. Sadly, the opposite is true for South Africa.
“It is an undisputable fact that the ANC quickly destroys everything that it has control over. Examples include the numerous public enterprises that have plummeted to their ruin as well as the state hospitals that are ramshackle. Likewise, more power over schools will unavoidably lead to more ruin.
“These amendments will allow the government to expropriate school assets, which is in contravention of section 25 of the Constitution (the property clause). If the government should keep the assets as curator, it would indeed be able to expropriate all private school assets, just like what happened with the mineral rights.
“Given the probability of such a raid by the ANC, which will undoubtedly affect our children’s future, everyone must unite to unseat the ANC by means of a coalition in 2019. The time for the ANC to govern our country is running out,” says adv Alberts.
