The motion to amend the Constitution to allow for expropriation without compensation that was accepted in Parliament earlier this week is a threat to all forms of private ownership, whether in regard to movable, immovable, intellectual or other assets, and it will impede economic growth and progress in South Africa in the worst possible way.
The FF Plus will strongly oppose the abovementioned proposed amendment to the Constitution and has already devised a plan in this regard. High-level meetings, where the implementation of the party’s plan will be discussed, are scheduled for this coming Saturday.
The plan that will aim to protect all forms of the right to private ownership, free market principles and the spirit and scope of the Bill of Rights, will be announced on Monday the 5th of March 2018.
It is important to realise that the motion that was accepted in Parliament has initiated a very dangerous process of amending the Constitution, but that it is a lengthy process that entails public participation, which will allow for objections by the country’s citizens.
The FF Plus is committed to protecting the right to private ownership and will do everything in its power to prevent the proposed amendment.
