The culture of violence that has affected South Africa for years now may never become the norm and must be brought to an end.
In one of the latest incidences of senseless violence, a 62-year-old man was shot dead in his car in front of his gate by robbers who trailed him from a bank in Fourways where he withdrew money to pay for his wife’s funeral.
The security at ABSA Fourways must be involved in the police’s investigation into the matter because it seems as if the robbers knew that the deceased withdrew a large amount of money.
The FF Plus is going to request an urgent meeting with the Gauteng Premier, David Makura, and the MEC for Community Safety, Nizakele Nkosi Malubane, and will insist that the crime intelligence skills of the police in the Gauteng province be improved.
The national leader of the FF Plus, Dr Pieter Groenewald and Mr Philip van Staden, FF Plus member of the Gauteng Legislature, recently discussed rural safety with Makura and the party expects the premier to take decisive action soon.
The ANC government is clearly not able to guarantee the safety of Gauteng residents and should, therefore, be ousted by a multiparty coalition at the polls in 2019.
