The report of police minister, Nathi Nhleko, on Nkandla is a further desperate attempt of the ANC to defend the indefensible and will merely contribute to make this scandal part of president Jacob Zuma’s legacy, Dr. Corné Mulder, the FF Plus’ chief whip says.
Dr. Mulder says the minister’s findings that president Jacob Zuma is not responsible for one single cent for the improvements at his private residence, was predictable.
“Minister Nhleko in his capacity as minister of police is a political appointment of president Zuma. His political future depends on president Zuma. Nhleko’s finding that the construction of a swimming pool, cattle kraal, chicken run and amphitheatre were necessary for security at Nkandla, is laughable.
“This cover-up by minster Nhleko will not be the last word about this outrage and will now form an important part of president Zuma’s legacy. Everything is about the R246 million of taxpayer’s money which was wasted to improve the private residence of the president,” Dr. Mulder says.
