The FF Plus welcomes the court of appeal’s ruling that President Jacob Zuma must be charged with and tried for alleged fraud, money laundering and extortion and considers the ruling a victory for justice, says Dr Pieter Groenewald, leader of the FF Plus.
Dr Groenewald says that the ruling is very technical in nature, but was to be expected seen in the light of the fact that the President’s own legal team admitted earlier that the initial decision of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) not to prosecute President Zuma was “irrational”.
“The question now is whether the President will be given a chance to provide reasons and make representations to the NPA about why he should not be proceeded this time around.
“The FF Plus wants to see the President and the NPA honour the court of appeal’s ruling and execute it and not waste any more of the tax payers’ money by going to the Constitutional Court,” says Dr Groenewald.
