The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) welcomes the Ekurhuleni Metro’s new Fixing the Frontline programme, launched today by the newly appointed City Manager, Mr Kagiso Lerutla.
The party wants to emphasise, however, that the measure of success is not announcing initiatives, but achieving tangible results on grass-roots level.
The initiative aims to restore efficiency and professionalism at municipal depots, better equip depots, and ensure that communities receive reliable and sustainable service delivery. The programme also focuses on municipal workers’ well-being and development.
The party sincerely hopes that this programme will prove to be a genuine turning point for residents of Kempton Park and the rest of Ekurhuleni, particularly with regard to electricity services.
Residents have had to endure prolonged power outages, infrastructure failures, vandalism and slow response times for years. If the programme is successfully implemented, it could bring much-needed relief.
The Freedom Front Plus would like to see communication with residents prioritised, enabling them to plan more effectively around outages.
The only way to determine whether the programme is successful would be to look for visible changes at grass-roots level – including the rapid resolution of problems, sustainable infrastructure maintenance and obvious accountability.
Die VF Plus in Ekurhuleni bly toegewy aan konstruktiewe toesig en sal die program noukeurig monitor om te verseker dat dit werklik tot meetbare verbeterings in dienslewering vir inwoners lei.
