The traffic light at the Mall at Carnival in Brakpan has been repaired thanks to the contribution of the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) to the “adopt and secure initiative”.
This traffic light is one of the key intersections connecting the R23 and Airport Road.
The Gauteng Department of Roads launched this “adopt and secure initiative” to encourage businesses to adopt and repair faulty traffic lights.
According to the provincial Department of Roads, it does not have enough funds to maintain all the traffic lights for which it is responsible.
The Freedom Front Plus believes that poor planning, the misappropriation of funds and a shortage of trained technical personnel exacerbate the problem.
The party decided to support the initiative for the sake of residents’ and visitors’ safety and, therefore, approached local businesses to gain their support as well. The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) also got involved in the initiative through the Freedom Front Plus.
The Freedom Front Plus expresses its gratitude to the Mall at Carnival management for their willingness to step up, and adopt and repair the traffic light.
