VF Plus encourages non-profit organisations in Gauteng to appeal against funding rejections

The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) encouraged non-profit organisations in Gauteng, whose funding applications for the 2025/26 cycle have been rejected, to apply for appeal.

These applications have to be submitted to the Gauteng Department of Social Development within seven working days from receipt of the rejection notice.

The party respects every non-profit organisation that helps care for and uplift vulnerable people and, therefore, implores these organisations to participate in the appeal process so their unsuccessful funding applications can be reconsidered.

The appeal process is important because additional information can be submitted to the Department as reasons for reconsideration.

Appeal applications can be sent to the Deputy Director-General: Social Services, Onkemetse.Kabasia@gauteng.gov.za, the secretariat of the Appeal Committee, Thembeka.Mkhwanazi@gauteng.gov.za, and the Acting Director: Partnerships and Funding, Lerato.Bob@gauteng.gov.za.

Depending on the nature of the appeal, the Committee may request written submissions, virtual meetings or in-person interviews to discuss the reconsideration. The outcome can be expected within five working days after the meeting.

Organisations are encouraged to make use of the process if they have substantial grounds for an appeal.

Organisations that were unaware of the deadline should still submit their applications. The Freedom Front Plus will assist them in submitting the relevant documentation.
