The FF Plus warned the Tshwane Metro Mayor, Dr Nasiphi Moya, not to needlessly spend money on a rezoning process which could result in irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure.
The party asked the Mayor during a council meeting on 29 October to withdraw the item of rezoning a property in Winterveld for constructing a 20 megalitre reservoir. The Mayor, however, simply ignored the request.
The FF Plus determined through careful inquiry that the current zoning status meets the conditions of the city planning scheme, so, there are no restrictions on the planned construction of the water reservoir.
If the Mayor decides to proceed with the rezoning, it will draw a line through her promises to promote service delivery and do away with unnecessary bureaucratic processes.
The process could also be delayed with up to three years if the Metro applies for rezoning the land. It could also see taxpayers shelling out about R300 000.
The FF Plus is committed to effective service delivery and promoting economic growth in the Metro for the benefit of all residents.
