During a Portfolio Committee meeting that was held today, the FF Plus pointed out to the Minister of Trade and Industry, Ebrahim Patel, that it is vital to implement new policy directions to stimulate the South African economy and trade.
Even before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the South African economy was in an extremely poor state after 26 years under the ANC government and its rigid policy directions, maladministration, state capture and corruption.
The FF Plus asked Minister Patel to take the fact that a post-Covid-19 South Africa will look drastically different into account. Consultation must be inclusive and the race-based discriminatory legislation must be done away with.
Amid the crisis caused by the pandemic, the President and his ministers are still using Apartheid as a scapegoat while the current government's role in the country's problems is overlooked.
During this time in which South Africa faces the reality of an international crisis and humanitarian disaster, the FF Plus will strive to make use of the window of opportunity to build a better and more fair future.
