In stark contrast to other governments that are constantly looking for new ways to develop and grow, the ANC has over the past 28 years perfected the recipe for disaster.
Regulation, as is envisioned with the economic regulation of transport, is one of the key ingredients of this recipe for disaster.
It is limited by policy, like Affirmative Action (AA) and Black Economic Empowerment (BEE), which leads to utter incompetence and misappropriation.
At this stage, there are various regulators at the respective entities. The main aim of this Bill is to establish a single national regulator of transport with a council of seven members.
The motivation behind it is, among other things, saving on costs and improving the Department of Transport's efficiency.
Price regulation and entrepreneurship to promote empowerment are also included.
The process to fully implement the Bill may take years, and the issue of employees who will be directly affected by this must be considered as well.
The chances of such regulation succeeding in solving the general problems experienced in the country's transport system are very slim.
Under ANC rule, the chances that things will get much worse are far greater.
In the FF Plus's view, it looks more like an attempt to centralise even more power in the hands of a few, along with all the benefits related to that.
After 28 years, South Africa has had enough of building its future on so-called historically disadvantaged individuals, which is just a smokescreen for cadre favouritism.
Instead of more centralisation, AA and BEE must be abolished.
That will undoubtedly contribute much more to turning the struggling Department of Transport – and the whole of South Africa – around.
South Africa deserves better than the ANC.
