The FF Plus condemns all forms of organised crime in the Tshwane Metro stemming from the ongoing illegal SAMWU strike.
Numerous vehicles, including a bakkie, a water tanker, three trucks and a bus, have been damaged in various incidents in the Pretoria CBD.
Another four vehicles have been torched and a worker has been assaulted.
The once sporadic incidents of violent crime have now turned into what can be considered organised terror and violence aimed at the city, its property and workers.
The Tshwane Metro, with the FF Plus as a coalition partner, is past the point of considering to negotiate with SAMWU. Decisive police intervention is needed to identify and arrest those guilty of endangering people’s lives and property.
The Metro and the FF Plus are grateful to volunteers who spend their time helping with service delivery. It is truly lamentable that residents are falling victim to criminal elements and that service delivery is affected.
The Metro is doing everything in its power to get the situation under control, and is requesting the community to be patient, especially with the councillors and officials who have stepped in to try and help.
