The FF Plus and the Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, yesterday inspected the progress made so far with repairs to the N12 in Potchefstroom.
The visit follows the FF Plus's request for the Minister to intervene in March this year.
At the time, the FF Plus pointed out that this main route that runs through Potchefstroom, Klerksdorp and Wolmaransstad is urgently in need of repairs. The road was disintegrating in places.
Towns along the route have been experiencing severe economic decline because trucks and motorists have started to avoid the route.
Local businesses and the agricultural community also struggled to transport their goods to outlets without incurring damage.
So far, good progress has been made with the repairs to the road. The FF Plus thanked the Minister for responding to its request to have the road repaired.
The FF Plus will keep monitoring the progress of the repair project in all three towns to ensure that the entire route is successfully repaired.
The party will also keep striving to find sustainable solutions for the maintenance of infrastructure, which will benefit everyone.
