(Freedom Front Plus’s message to the Hudson Institute in Washington DC)
The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) is not visiting the US cap in hand. The party’s visit is motivated by its genuine concern for South Africa’s future and its desire for the country to be a progressive, successful nation once again.
To achieve this, the Afrikaner community is willing and able to play its part in promoting economic growth and mutual respect in South Africa.
South Africa’s Afrikaner community is resilient, skilled and committed to securing a prosperous, inclusive future for all South Africa’s people.
However, this path to prosperity is only viable if the obstacles placed in the way of progress by the ANC over the past thirty years are removed.
The most significant of these is race-based legislation, which is to the detriment of everyone in the country while benefiting a handful of ANC elites.
The US can play a significant role in this regard, and therefore, it is important for the Freedom Front Plus to collaborate with the US and foster economic growth and mutual respect between the two nations.
This was the gist of the Freedom Front Plus’s message during talks with the influential Hudson Institute in Washington DC as part of its bilateral visit to the US to engage with White House officials and other stakeholders about South Africa.
This discussion follows a recent, and premature, conversation between Presidents Donald Trump and Cyril Ramaphosa, where some of the issues the US has with South Africa’s government, such as farm murders and crime, were highlighted.
Many other significant matters were not even touched on, such as South Africa’s geopolitical stance and its ties with countries like Iran, Cuba and China, adding to the tension between South Africa and the US.
The root cause of this is that the ANC views itself as the sole decision-maker when it comes to South Africa’s international relations policy.
It is critical to place all relevant facts about South Africa on the table – from the economy to crime – as the current state of affairs leave no room for doubt that the country is in trouble.
The Freedom Front Plus’s sincere desire is to help build a winning country with everyone sharing in its success. At present, the country’s black majority are the biggest losers. This should, and can indeed, be rectified.
