{"id":85561,"date":"2026-02-17T08:51:28","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T06:51:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vfplus.org.za\/?p=85561"},"modified":"2026-02-17T08:51:32","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T06:51:32","slug":"mpumalanga-se-gesondheidsdienste-op-breekpunt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vfplus.org.za\/af\/mediaverklarings\/mpumalanga-se-gesondheidsdienste-op-breekpunt\/","title":{"rendered":"Mpumalanga se gesondheidsdienste op breekpunt"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mpumalanga se gesondheidsdienste het \u2019n kritieke kantelpunt bereik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die departement van gesondheid se jongste kwartaalverslag vir 2025\/26 skets \u2019n beeld van verval en wanbestuur wat gesondheidsorg op die rand van mislukking plaas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Met miljarde rande wat \u00f3f vermors is \u00f3f eenvoudig nie bestee is nie, is dit duidelik dat die departement die inwoners van die provinsie in die steek laat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hospitale versleg, dokters bly werkloos en gemeenskappe word van basiese dienste ontneem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die verslag toon dat meer as R4,4 miljard aan onre\u00eblmatige en vermorste uitgawes nie verantwoord kan word nie, terwyl R6,6 miljard onderbestee is. Fondse wat vir hospitaalopgraderings en kliniekonderhoud begroot is, is eenvoudig nie gebruik nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die Mapulaneng-hospitaal in Bosbokrand is as onveilig verklaar weens vervalle infrastruktuur en mislukte waterstelsels, terwyl duur toerusting in onbruik staan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hospitale in Emalahleni (Witbank) en Middelburg sukkel steeds met sekuriteitsprobleme, lang wagtye en beperkte hulpbronne. Die sluiting van die ou Middelburg-hospitaal se ongevalle-afdeling en die tekort aan ambulansdienste het pasi\u00ebnte in 2025 gestrand gelaat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hoewel die nuwe King Nyabela-hospitaal intussen in gebruik geneem is, het die oorgang groot druk op dienslewering geplaas. By die Bernice Samuel-hospitaal in Delmas het voorvalle van mediese nalatigheid die gemeenskap se vertroue verder geskaad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selfs die Rob Ferreira-hospitaal in Mbombela \u2013 \u2019n tersi\u00eare opleidingsgerief \u2013 ervaar steeds Infrastruktuurprobleme, personeeltekorte en swak bestuur. Dit plaas pasi\u00ebnte in gevaar en ondermyn die opleiding van jong dokters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die Kubaanse mediese program bly \u2019n bron van kommer. Sedert 2012 het Mpumalanga meer as R150 miljoen begroot om 221 Suid-Afrikaanse studente in Kuba op te lei. Teen 2017 het 33 van hierdie studente as dokters teruggekeer, maar slegs 17 is in die provinsie geplaas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Intussen het die departement ook Kubaanse dokters aangestel, wat die indruk skep dat buitelandse personeel bo plaaslike gegradueerdes bevoordeel word. Hierdie wanbalans het nie net miljoene gekos nie, maar ook die gemeenskap se vertroue verder ondermyn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die VF Plus eis onmiddellike aanspreeklikheid. Die departement kan nie langer wegkom met miljarde rand se wanbesteding en hospitale wat verval nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gesondheidsdienste wat waardigheid herstel, dokters regmatig plaas en gemeenskappe sekerheid gee, is dringend nodig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die jongste bevindinge wys ook dat die nasionale gesondheidsversekering (NGV) geen kans het om suksesvol te wees nie.
