{"id":62840,"date":"2022-04-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-04-05T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vfplus.org.za\/nuutste-nuus\/swellendam-se-beoogde-tariefverhogings-hou-nie-rekening-met-inwoners-se-finansile-vermons\/"},"modified":"2022-04-06T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2022-04-05T22:00:00","slug":"swellendam-se-beoogde-tariefverhogings-hou-nie-rekening-met-inwoners-se-finansile-vermons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vfplus.org.za\/af\/mediaverklarings\/swellendam-se-beoogde-tariefverhogings-hou-nie-rekening-met-inwoners-se-finansile-vermons\/","title":{"rendered":"Swellendam se beoogde tariefverhogings hou nie rekening met inwoners se finansi\u00eble vermo\u00ebns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Die beoogde tariefverhogings in die Swellendam-plaaslike munisipaliteit (Barrydale, Buffeljagsrivier, Infanta, Malagas, Suurbraak, Swellendam) se konsepbegroting vir die 2022\/23-finansi&#xEB;le jaar hou nie rekening met die finansi&#xEB;le vermo&#xEB;ns van die gemeenskap wat hy bedien nie.<\/p>\n<p>Baie van Swellendam se inwoners is pensioenarisse en werkers uit die lae inkomstegroepe.<\/p>\n<p>Die Covid-19-inperkings het ook baie van die inwoners gedwing om &#8216;n verminderde salaris te aanvaar en ondernemings moes hulle deure sluit. <\/p>\n<p>Verder is daar &#8216;n groeiende informele nedersetting en die gepaardgaande behoefte aan dienslewering wat &#8216;n klein munisipaliteit soos Swellendam nie kan bekostig nie. <\/p>\n<p>Alhoewel die VF Plus nie die konsepbegroting steun nie, is van Swellendam se voorgestelde tariefverhogings &#8211; weens druk van die VF Plus om eerder kostes te besnoei as om net die belastingbetaler swaarder te belas &#8211; nie so ekstreem soos by sommige ander munisipaliteite nie.<\/p>\n<p>Die tariefverhogings is soos volg: <\/p>\n<p>&#x2022; Elektrisiteit : 8,61% onderhewig aan die goedkeuring van Nersa<br \/>&#x2022; Water : tussen 6% tot 12% afhangende van blokke<br \/>&#x2022; Sanitasie : 6%<br \/>&#x2022; Water : 7,8%<br \/>&#x2022; Eiendomsbelasting : 8%<\/p>\n<p>Die beoogde kragtariefverhoging is ver bo Nersa se voorstel dat munisipaliteite hul kragtariewe van 1 Julie met 7,47% verhoog en die VF Plus sal dit teenstaan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;n Verdere slag vir getroue belastingbetalers is dat die 20kWh gratis elektrisiteit wat huishoudings ontvang gaan wegval terwyl hulpbehoewende huishoudings nou 6kl water en 50kWh elektrisiteit gratis gaan ontvang.<\/p>\n<p>Terwyl inwoners gebuk gaan onder ernstige watertekorte weens die munisipaliteit se onvermo&#xEB; om genoeg water te behandel vir gebruik en die gebrek aan beheer oor onwettige waterverbruik en koppelings, word die watertariewe met tussen 6% en 12% verhoog.<\/p>\n<p>Die verval van Swellendam onder die DA die afgelope elf jaar moet omgekeer word.
