Die VF Plus in Emfuleni sal nie toelaat dat Nigeriese-dwelmbendes die dorp beheer nie en sal alles in sy vermoë doen om sulke ongerymdhede te help beveg, sê Gerda Senekal, VF Plus-raadslid in Emfuleni.<\/p>\n

Senekal sê ondanks Vanderbijlpark se hoë misdaadsyfer en geweld wat toeneem, is inwoners steeds geskok na ‘n wilde skietery verlede week tussen die polisie en ‘n beweerde dwelmbende.<\/p>\n

“Die skietery is voorafgegaan deur ‘n beplande klopjag waartydens die polisie die lyk van ‘n Nigeriese burger in die huis gekry het. Kort daarna het ‘n groep mans by die huis opgedaag en die polisie daarvan beskuldig dat hulle vir die man se dood verantwoordelik was.<\/p>\n

“’n Skietery het gevolg en ‘n polisieman is ernstig beseer. ‘n Groot groep mense het om die huis saamgedrom en hulp moes ingeroep word om die skare in bedwang te bring. Later die middag het lede van die Nigeriese ambassade en die polisie se bevelvoerder in Vanderbijlpark die toneel besoek en toeskouers probeer kalmeer.<\/p>\n

“Ek het die toneel bygewoon in my hoedanigheid as lid van die gemeenskapsektorpolisie, en het omliggende skole gewaarsku om dié gebied te vermy.<\/p>\n

“Die LUR vir gemeenskapsveiligheid, Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane, het Maandag (vandeesweek) ‘n protesoptog gelei om oorlog te verklaar teen dwelmsmouse en om wet en orde in die gebied te herstel. Die LUR het die skare versoek om ten alle tye aktief betrokke te wees in die stryd teen misdaad en dwelmmisbruik.<\/p>\n

“Die VF Plus het ook die skare toegespreek en gevra dat die gemeenskap help om die gebied van dwelmhandel te bevry. Buitelanders moet nooit toegelaat word om gebiede in die omgewing te beheer nie.<\/p>\n

“Die VF Plus veroordeel hierdie misdaad. Belanghebbendes werk tans aan ‘n voorlegging oor verskeie misdaadkwessies en knelpunte in die gebied. Dié dokument sal aan die betrokke owerhede op provinsiale- en nasionale vlak voor gelê word,” sê Senekal.<\/p>\n
