{"id":23273,"date":"2019-02-12T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-02-11T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vfplus.org.za\/nuutste-nuus\/vf-plus-jeug-in-gauteng-gaan-emfuleni-versoek-om-vredestrein-in-stand-te-hou\/"},"modified":"2023-05-12T08:39:32","modified_gmt":"2023-05-12T06:39:32","slug":"vf-plus-jeug-in-gauteng-gaan-emfuleni-versoek-om-vredestrein-in-stand-te-hou","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vfplus.org.za\/af\/jongste-nuus\/vf-plus-jeug-in-gauteng-gaan-emfuleni-versoek-om-vredestrein-in-stand-te-hou\/","title":{"rendered":"VF Plus-Jeug in Gauteng gaan Emfuleni versoek om Vredestrein in stand te hou"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Die VF Plus se Gauteng-Jeug gaan die burgemeester van Emfuleni versoek om die geskiedkundige trein wat gebruik is gedurende die vredesonderhandelings aan die einde van die Anglo-Boereoorlog in 1902, in stand te hou.<\/p>\n<p>Die trein, wat as die &#x2018;Vredestrein&#x2019; bekend staan en wat as historiese besienswaardigheid op Vereeniging se stasie staan, is verwaarloos en moet vir die nageslag bewaar word.<\/p>\n<p>Die republieke van die Oranje-Vrystaat en Transvaal het in 1902 elk dertig verteenwoordigers afgevaardig om in Vereeniging samesprekings te voer wat &#x2018;n einde aan die drie jaar lange-oorlog sou bring.<\/p>\n<p>Die onderhandelings het op 15 Mei 1902 in Vereeniging begin waarna generaals JBM Hertzog, Jan Smuts, Koos de la Rey, Louis Botha en Christiaan de Wet op 17 Mei 1902 na Pretoria gestuur is waar Lord Herbert Kitchener en sir Alfred Milner op die uitslag van die Vereeniging-beraadslaging gewag het.<\/p>\n<p>N&#xE1; afloop van tien dae se taai onderhandelings het die vyf boeregeneraals die Tienpunt-klousule teruggeneem na Vereeniging waarop die afgevaardigdes net ja of nee moes antwoord.<\/p>\n<p>Daar is gestem en die voorwaardes is met 54 teen 6 aanvaar waarna die Vredestrein van Vereeniging na die Pretoria-stasie vertrek het en &#x2018;n rytuig hulle van daar na Melrosehuis geneem het om die vredestraktaat op 31 Mei 1902 te onderteken.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Die Vredestrein is &#x2018;n geskiedkundige skat en die ANC-plaaslike regering van Emfuleni het geen reg om dit so te verwaarloos nie.&#xA0;&#xA0;&quot;Die VF Plus se Gauteng-Jeug dring daarop aan om hierdie aangeleentheid met die burgemeester te bespreek in &#8216;n poging om die trein vir die nageslag te bewaar,&quot; s&#xEA; Jean Kriek, VF Plus-jeugleier in Gauteng.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Die VF Plus se Gauteng-Jeug gaan die burgemeester van Emfuleni versoek om die geskiedkundige trein wat gebruik is gedurende die vredesonderhandelings aan die einde van die Anglo-Boereoorlog in 1902, in stand te hou.
