"Die polisie se misdaadstatistiek vir die 2018-19-boekjaar dien as bewys dat Suid-Afrika al hoe meer gewelddadig en onveilig word vir sy inwoners,' sê dr Pieter Groenewald, leier van die VF Plus.<\/p>\n

Vir die eerste keer nóg het al sewe die kategorieë kontak-misdrywe wat teen ‘n persoon gepleeg word, ‘n toename getoon. Moord het ook vir die sewende agtereenvolgende jaar toegeneem, hierdie keer met 3,4%.<\/p>\n

Altesame 21 022 mense is vermoor. Dit is meer as vyf keer hoër as die wêreldgemiddelde. Die wêreldgemiddelde vir moord is sewe per 100 000 van die bevolking. In Suid-Afrika is dit nou meer as 36 per 100 000.<\/p>\n

Wat seksuele misdrywe aanbetref, het al vier kategorieë ‘n toename getoon. Verkragting het met 3,9% toegeneem tot 41 583 gevalle. Die hoogste styging was by seksuele aanranding wat met 9,6% toegeneem het. In totaal het seksuele misdrywe met 4,6% toegeneem tot ‘n totaal van 52 420.<\/p>\n

Rooftogte by woonhuise, die misdryf wat meeste deur Suid-Afrikaners gevrees word, het met 0,8% toegeneem tot 22 431.<\/p>\n

 <\/h3>\n

"Die VF Plus bevraagteken die plaasmoordsyfer wat in die statistiek weergegee word en is van mening dit is nie korrek nie. Statistiek toon aan dat 47 moorde in 41 voorvalle plaasgevind het. Landbou-unies se statistiek toon ‘n veel hoër moordsyfer.<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

 <\/h3>\n

"Die regering sal sy verantwoordelikheid moet nakom en sal drastiese stappe moet neem om die strafregstelsel van Suid-Afrika reg te ruk sodat misdadigers boet vir hul misdrywe.<\/p>\n

"Misdadigers is nie meer bang vir die polisie of om ‘n misdryf in Suid-Afrika te pleeg nie. Die burgers van die land het die volste reg om te sê hulle voel onveilig. Die staat het ‘n verantwoordelikheid om die mense van die land te beskerm ingevolge die grondwetlike vereistes," sê Groenewald.<\/p>\n
