Dit is vandag een jaar na die 2016-munisipale verkiesings waar koalisieregerings op plaaslike vlak daartoe gelei het dat die ANC beheer oor drie metro’s verloor het, sê dr. Pieter Groenewald, leier van die VF Plus.<\/p>\n

Dr. Groenewald sê koalisieregerings vereis beter leierskap en ook meer verantwoordelike leierskap van politieke leiers omdat koalisies ‘n ‘gee en neem-situasie’ is.<\/p>\n

“Die groot voordeel van ’n koalisieregering is dat die verskillende partye hulself afvra wat in die beste belang van die kiesers is, en nie wat in die beste belang van die party is nie. Dit is ’n groot voordeel vir kiesers.<\/p>\n

“Uiteraard is daar talle uitdagings. Suid-Afrika is ’n jong demokrasie en koalisievorming is juis ‘n uitvloeisel van die proporsionele kiesstelsel waar verskillende gemeenskappe ’n stem kan hê in ’n stadsraad of ander wetgewende liggaam.<\/p>\n

“Daardeur word verskillende politieke partye se waardes ingedra in die koalisie waardeur elke betrokke party se ondersteuners seggenskap verkry in die bestuur van hul stadsraad.<\/p>\n

“’n Voorbeeld van so ‘n voordeel vir VF Plus-ondersteuners is dat ons gesê het meriete moet die kriterium wees by die aanstelling van amptenare, en nie ras nie. Feitlik oral waar die VF Plus ‘n koalisievennoot is, is dit wel aanvaar dat meriete die kriterium moet wees.<\/p>\n

“Met die 2019-verkiesing kan daar ook koalisies wees in Gauteng as provinsie, en daarom moet kiesers verstaan dat elke stem tel. Al stem mense vir verskillende opposisiepartye, gaan elke stem dus steeds waarde hê om die ANC tot onder 50% af te dwing,” sê dr. Groenewald.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
