Die jongste politieke speelbal vir die ANC en ander politieke opportuniste is die onderwysers en leerlinge van die Hoërskool Stilfontein in Noordwes.  Die skool word van rassisme en diskriminasie beskuldig nadat sekere leerders na ‘n volgende graad bevorder is, terwyl ander teruggehou is.<\/p>\n

Oproerige betogers het Vrydag hul misnoeë te kenne gegee deur voor die skool te betoog en die situasie het vandag handuit geruk toe bakstene deur vensters gegooi is en ‘n ouer glo ‘n onderwyser aangerand het. Verskeie ANC-lede en lede van ander organisasies was onder die oproeriges.<\/p>\n

Die VF Plus veroordeel hierdie optrede ten sterkste.  Noordwes se onderwysdepartement het reeds verskeie vergaderings met die skool en ander rolspelers gehad en ‘n ondersoek is deur die departement van stapel gestuur, soos deur toepaslike wetgewing bepaal word.<\/p>\n

"Dit is onaanvaarbaar dat betogers aangehits word tot geweld sodat die ANC politieke punte deur rasretoriek kort voor die nasionale verkiesing kan aanteken. Ouers en leerlinge moet die departement toelaat om sy ondersoek te voltooi en nie in die proses die skool afbreek as gevolg van die onverantwoordelike aanhitsing deur die regerende party nie," sê Michal Groenewald, VF Plus-leier in Noordwes.<\/p>\n

"Die VF Plus sal die LUR vir onderwys, Sello Lehari, herinner aan die plig wat op die departement rus om toe te sien dat leerlinge en onderwysers veilig is by skole, soos deur die Skolewet bepaal.  Die departement moet toesien dat oortreders wat skooleiendom beskadig en hul skuldig maak aan enige vorm van misdaad, soos aanranding en intimidasie, behoorlik vervolg word," sê Groenewald.<\/p>\n
