"Die onrus wat die afgelope weke in verskillende onderwysomgewings voorkom, dui op 'n diepliggende spanning en selfs polarisering in die Suid-Afrikaanse samelewing," sê dr. Wynand Boshoff, VF Plus-LP en hoofwoordvoerder van hoër onderwys.<\/p>\n

"Spanning kom op verskillende plekke in die land voor waar ouers ontevrede is met hul kinders se plasings. Aan universiteite wissel die onrus van taalkwessies tot die beperkte plekke aan universiteite.<\/p>\n

"Soms word dit deur groter, nasionale organisasies soos die EFF gedryf, maar soms is dit spontane opwellings op gemeenskapsvlak.<\/p>\n

"Die grondoorsaak hiervoor is die regering se pogings om onderwys op alle vlakke te gebruik om sy beeld van nasiebou te verwerklik – 'n beeld wat nie erkenning gee aan die verskeidenheid in die samelewing nie.<\/p>\n

 <\/h3>\n

"In stede daarvan dat elke skool en universiteit gesien word as 'n kulturele ruimte waar gemeenskappe uitdrukking aan hul aard en identiteit kan gee, word dit gebruik om 'n kunsmatige, Engelssprekende Afrika-samelewing te skep."<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

 <\/h3>\n

"Ter wille van hierdie "groter doel" moet Afrikaans telkens plek maak, nie vir ander Afrika-tale nie, maar vir Engels. By die twee tradisioneel grootste Afrikaanse universiteite, Stellenbosch en Pretoria, is Afrikaanse studente selfs ontmoedig om Afrikaans in die private sfeer te gebruik.<\/p>\n

"Selfs Unisa spring ontwrigting nie vry nie. Met die regering se ondeurdagte besluit om hoër onderwys gratis te verskaf, moes Unisa die spits afbyt.<\/p>\n

"Dié instelling kon nie, soos residensiële universiteite, daarop wys dat hulle nie genoeg plek beskikbaar het nie. Tog is daar beperkings op hoeveel studente hulle kan hanteer, aangesien werksopdragte steeds gemerk moet word.<\/p>\n

"Met die fiskale krisis waarin die land hom bevind, moet gratis hoër onderwys eenvoudig beperk word tot dit wat die land kan bekostig. Daarom is Unisa se inname van eerstejaars tot 20 000 beperk – iets wat die EFF dwars in die krop steek.<\/p>\n

"Die VF Plus is daarvan oortuig dat skole en universiteite kulturele ruimtes is waar studente blootstelling aan die wye wêreld kry, maar ook meedoen aan die vorming van hul eie gemeenskap se identiteit."<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

"Indien die ANC-regering sy huidige beleid van kulturele manipulasie deur skole en universiteite voortsit, gaan hulle ook sien hoe studente staatsinstellings vir privates verruil. Alle vlakke van onderwys en opleiding sal na vore tree as nog 'n gebied wat die burgerlike samelewing voorsien, omdat die staat misluk.<\/p>\n

"Rondom 1994 is wyd verkondig dat mense tevore kunsmatig uitmekaar gehou is, maar dat kinders wat in 'n nuwe bedeling grootword in prefekte harmonie met mekaar sou leef.
