Two serious set-backs for the ANC

Dr Pieter Mulder

On one day, the ANC suffered two serious blows to the advantage of democracy in South Africa. South Africa cannot survive the tyranny of the ANC’s abuse of power for much longer.

The South Gauteng High Court today ruled that Zwelinzima Vavi’s suspension as Secretary General of Cosatu should be set aside. The same court also found today in another case that a reasonable person’s conclusion in terms of the Public Protector’s report about Nkandla, could be that money had been stolen.

According to Dr. Pieter Mulder, leader of the FF Plus, these two judgments offer the opportunity to expose the ANC for that which they truly are and for the voters to take a decision in favour of a better future for South Africa on 7 May.

The re-instatement of Vavi as the Secretary General of Cosatu will definitely reveal the cracks in the ANC and Cosatu’s alliance. There is a definite possibility that Cosatu could split or even that Cosatu may, with a majority vote, decide not to support the ANC. All of this has far-reaching implications for the ANC which had in the early nineties built its party to a large extent on the structures of Cosatu.

Mulder is of the opinion that the voters of South Africa should take note of the opportunity that now exists to weaken the ANC and bring an end to their tyranny. The voters should vote for a real alternative such as the FF Plus which, in a coalition with other opposition parties, will cooperate to keep the ANC out of government.
