The ANC government’s baffling comments that Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) has not impoverished a single white person in South Africa, can no longer be tolerated and the Freedom Front Plus has started an action group to collect proof of this to submit it to government, Adv. Anton Alberts, the Freedom Front Plus’ parliamentary spokesperson on trade and industry said.
“It is obvious that the minister does not have any grounds to make these comments as no research has been done about it. It’s mere thumb-sucking and makes a mockery of the whole white and brown community of South Africa who have been hit hard by BEE and affirmative action.
“It is however not only Davies who is denying this. President Jacob Zuma made the same comments a couple of months ago.
“In the mean time we see on a daily basis the impoverishment of white and brown people which is heading for a national crisis already. Yet, the ANC is shutting its eyes to it.
“The FF Plus’ information is that there are more than 460 settlements for indigent white people in the country where people live in the greatest of misery. In the Pretoria area alone, there are nearly 90 settlements,” Adv. Alberts said.
According to Adv. Alberts, the FF Plus has launched a website with the name www.discrimination.org.za where white and brown people can share their experiences regarding the effect of BEE and affirmative action and sign a petition against transformation.
We will also be going to people living in the settlements to record their stories. This information will be handed to the president and the minister as well as to the portfolio committees on trade and industry and labour. We will be forcing them to pay attention to the problem so that everybody will be given opportunities in the economy.
“This is also the only way which the economy can grow. Exclusion of minorities on a race basis will lead to the economy eventually imploding as the most skilled persons still come from these groups due to the ANC’s poor education system.
“The FF Plus wants to reveal the myth that BEE empowers all black people and does not harm anybody.
“The opposite is the truth. And that is that a handful of already wealthy people gain access to the state coffers and the economy through this and that it is even to the detriment of the broader black population because the economy as a whole is hurt by the policy,” Adv. Alberts says.
